Genuineness Is the Utmost of Sincerity
The stranger said: 'Genuineness is the utmost of sincerity and honesty. Without sincerity and honesty, one cannot move others. Therefore one who forces himself to cry, though he sounds sad, inspires no grief. One who forces himself to be angry, though he looks stern, inspires no awe. One who forces himself to be affectionate, though he smiles, creates no harmony. True grief needs no sound to inspire mourning. True anger needs no expression to inspire awe. True affection needs no smile to create harmony. When genuineness resides within, the spirit moves without — this is why genuineness is valued.'
