King Wei was one of Qi's greatest rulers, credited with restoring the state's former power and establishing its intellectual reputation. Early in his reign, he was known for neglect and dissipation, until a blunt warning from his advisor Chunyu Kun spurred a dramatic reformation. He reorganized the bureaucracy, appointed capable officials like Zou Ji as prime minister, and revitalized the military. Under his patronage, the Jixia Academy in Linzi became the leading intellectual center of the Warring States world, hosting scholars from every philosophical tradition. King Wei's reforms positioned Qi as the dominant eastern power.
