Biography 傳
Bai Qi is widely regarded as one of the most formidable military commanders in Chinese history. Serving as Qin's chief general under King Zhao of Qin, he won over seventy battles without a single defeat. His most famous campaign was the Battle of Changping (260 BC), where he defeated the Zhao army by siege and stratagem — cutting supply lines and feigning retreat. After the surrender, he ordered the execution of approximately 400,000 Zhao soldiers, the single deadliest battle of the Warring States period. This massacre remains one of the most controversial episodes in Chinese military history. Bai Qi was later forced to commit suicide by political rivals at court.
